Prof. Dr. Miguel Mascarenhas is the Director of the Precision Medicine Unit at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hospital de São João / Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), and CEO of DigestAID, a leading scale-up in the development of artificial intelligence solutions for digestive health. He holds a PhD focused on the application of AI in digestive healthcare and is a pioneer in integrating AI into gastroenterology and digital endoscopy. With over 200 scientific contributions, including peer-reviewed publications and awards, he has received international recognition, notably the ACG International Award for Best Scientific Paper in 2022 and 2024, alongside multiple honors from AGA, ECCO, ESGE, ESCP, IANS, SBCP, SPG, and other leading societies. Currently, he spearheads groundbreaking initiatives in AI-assisted diagnostics, precision endoscopy, and digital health, driving the transformation of data-driven medicine.
